Durga Puja Ashtami Morning Look: Makeup and Styling

Each day of pujo is special in its own right, but somehow, Ashtami has an extra special place. Ashtami pushpanjali is something no one misses, to us Bengali youth..its just like Valentines’ all over again. With our eyes filled with naughty nuances and hearts brimming with excitement, we intend to leave no stone unturned to get that very special touch for that very special one…or just for ourselves.

Today, I am back with the “Durga Puja- Style Stories” series and today I am here to share my Ashtami look with you all.
I love wearing sarees and especially during these 4-5 days it has to be sarees only, be it worn in a traditional way or in some unconventional ways. For my “Saptami Look”, which I shared few days back (click HERE to see), I went a little off the beat with styling and I am so glad you all liked it. 

But, Ashtami is all about getting traditional and the hardcore Bengali in me can’t think of anything else other than “shada and lal par saree, shonar gohona, lal tip, bold kohl rimmed eyes and red lipstick.” ...the quintessential Bengali look.

SAREE:-
The signature white and red saree. Mine is tant saree with broad red border in golden zari work. The sarees in this type of breathable cotton fabric are super comfy and helps you stay cool even in the hot, humid weather. Tant’er saree is unparallel and incomparable.

MAKEUP:-
I went with signature Kohled eyes, using just Kohl and mascara for this look. Starting from the centre of the lid, I drew a thick stroke of line and extended it past my eye in a bold wing. I applied a thick stroke of Kohl on my lower lash line as well and using my finger tip, I smudged the kohl lightly and then a coat of mascara to finish off my eye makeup. For the base I went for just BB cream. You can do a full base with foundation, corrector, concealer as well. I just applied a swirl of a pink blush and totally skipped contouring and highlighting. A swipe of matte red lipstick and I am all ready for the morning.

Accessories:-
I opted for gold jewelry to compliment my saree and mood. A jhumka, a long chain and just few bangles on each hand. Being a happily married woman, couldn’t miss Sankha-Pola and sindoor. And to keep the ethnic look intact, I wore a small red bindi.
